MS-Nikolaus candy-tour

5 December

Have you been on the straight and narrow this year? It's an old lab tradition – every year on St. Nicklas Day, we go around the MPI CBG and CSBD labs to share sweets and chocolates with our colleagues and the members of the institute staff. This year, our Mass Spec Nikolaus duo, PhD students Viditha and Jonas, were in charge of the heavy candy baskets.

"QC Shotgun" project was presented on 4th ILS Conference

October 2025

Our postdoctoral fellow, Silvia Radrezza, delivered an oral presentation entitled 'Instrument QC for Shotgun Lipidomics' at the 4th International Lipidomics Society (ILS) Conference in Madrid. This was the first presentation of 'QC Shotgun', our community-supported project. In collaboration with scientists from eight laboratories across Europe, we are developing an instrumental quality control procedure for shotgun lipidomics. We are happy to be leading this very strong community effort! https://ilsconf2025madrid.com/programa

New intrumentation in the lab!

September 2025

Great news – the new Astral Orbitrap mass spectrometer (Thermo Fisher Scientific) is up and running in our lab! It has been long awaited by the MPI CBG community to support high-end proteomics applications, from cross-linking protein complexes and condensates to in-depth quantification of organelles, organoids, and tissues. Our mass spectrometry proteomics team has completed the training course and is ready for real-life projects. We are looking forward to making new discoveries!
