I am interested in applying mathematical theory, in particular methods from algebraic topology, to research in the natural sciences, with a focus on molecular biology. My current work connects the Mayer–Vietoris spectral sequence to questions about spatial organization and molecular interactions in a range of biological systems.
I'm interested in the study of random discrete topological objects, from geometric graphs to chain complexes, with an emphasis on applications through topological data analysis. My current work applies tools from random topology, geometry, and high-dimensional data analysis to problems in genomics and molecular biology, particularly developing mathematical and computational approaches to understand relationships between DNA and RNA sequences.
I am interested in developing methods in applied topology and discrete Laplacians and using those methods to understand shapes and networks in biology, from vasculature to transcriptomics. Currently I am particularly interested in the morphology of spatial networks in biology at multiple scales.
