Light-sheet fluorescence microscopy is Method of the Year 2014

SPIM setup in the lab of Jan Huisken

The journal Nature Methods published a special feature on light-sheet fluorescence microscopy as the Method of the Year 2014. The MPI-CBG has lots of experts for this technology, which has the unique ability to image biological systems for extended periods of time and in three dimensions without damaging the specimens. It opens new avenues to study biological processes with unprecedented imaging speed.  Jan Peychl, Jan Huisken, and Pavel Tomancak from the MPI-CBG wrote a commentary in this issue about the interdisciplinary challenges light-sheet microscopy presents for biologists and highlight available resources.
