Art and Science Festival in Containers

Dresden’s cultural and scientific institutions initiated a spontaneous culture festival promoting Dresden as an open-minded city, in which people of various cultures and religions live together. The festival opens its doors February 12-23 in the city center of Dresden.

Seven yellow containers take to the streets and mark prominent and highly frequented spots and squares in the city center. The containers offer asylum for ideas and become a home for various topics. With several Dresden-based institutions from the science and arts field joining forces, the festival will offer a very diverse set of events and projects: Exhibits, movie screenings, performances, scientific talks or experiments will create an open atmosphere for improvised exchange.

The MPI-CBG will offer experimental sessions with international scientists: In "Science Smoothie" you can extracting DNA from bananas with kitchenware, doing the experiments in English with MPI-CBG scientists (Feb 12 at 4:30pm, Feb 14 and 21 at 1pm). "Miet an Ausländer" is a format in which you can get a slot with a top scientists and chat with them. You'll learn more about their cultural background, about their lives, about their dreams and their work routine. Anything can happen - surprise!
