Welcome to Dresden?

Survey on everyday life experience of international people in Dresden

Wolfgang Donsbach and Maria Müller will present a survey on foreigners living and working in Dresden that was conducted by the TU Dresden Institute of Media and Communication. The seminar takes place on 21 February 2013 at 14:30 at the MPI-CBG Auditorium. All are welcome!

The survey explored the everyday life of international staff of Dresden companies and institutions. It revealed that people who come from abroad to live and work in Dresden feel settled down in the city, however, very often experience non-tolerant behavior by neighbors, when shopping, or when dealing with public authorities. Some situations described by the interviewees even involved aggressive and intimidating behavior they experienced. This is true especially for people from Asia, Africa or Arab countries.

The MPI-CBG is hosting the presentation of the survey because the institute is truly international: More than half of the 400 scientists come from abroad, 45 nations work together at the institute.
