The MPI-CBG Worldcup Oracles

Seven model organisms predict soccer results

We initiated the first-ever competition for systematic model oracle research to identify the gene regulatory networks underlying divination.

We have Drosophila distributing on an agar-agar soccer field according to their divine sense of who is going to win. We have Xenopus frogs who can even predict the result of a game, just like the Wormoracle with C. elegans. Red Flour Beetles actually play with a tiny ball (if they are interested). We have Zebrafish Oskar who was in training with Paul the Octopus for 30 years in the Ganges delta. We have the collective prediction power of the Yeastacle. And we have three planarians: Frank, Collin, and Luigi.
