The Saxon Minister of Higher Education, Research and the Arts, Sabine von Schorlemer, visited the MPI-CBG with a group of journalists on August 23, 2012. The purpose of that visit was to demonstrate the excellence of the non-university member institutions of DRESDEN-concept, like the Max Planck, Fraunhofer, and Leibniz institutes.
Wieland Huttner, director at the MPI-CBG, together with Frank Jülicher (MPI-PKS) and Liu Hao Tjeng (MPI-CPfS), introduced the science performed at the Dresden MPIs. Gene Myers, recently recruited to Dresden as founding director of the new systems biology center, gave an introduction of this institution at the interface of biology, computer science, and physics.
