The 5th Dresden “Gastmahl für alle” took place on the Neustadt side of the Elbe by the Goldene Reiter statue after a break due to Corona. On September 13, the initiators of “Dresden is(s)t bunt” invited people to join 160 tables on the main street between 4 and 8 pm. A table almost 300 meters long in the shade of the trees turned the promenade between the Goldene Reiter and the Three Kings' Church into a lively picnic area for a few hours. With “Dresden is(s)t bunt” we want to show the diversity of our city and get in touch with each other in public places. This year, the guests were entertained by artists from the independent scene, Dresden's stages, museums and amateur ensembles. The program ranged from concerts, dance, theater, forums and literature to parlor games and spontaneous singing.
As an international institute, the MPI-CBG participated with its own table together with the Center for Systems Biology Dresden. International scientists brought their local specialties and shared them with the visitors. The festival, which has already become a tradition, is organized by the Cellex Foundation and supported by CSD Dresden e.V., AWO Sachsen and the association Dresden – Place to be! e.V. More than 60 cultural partners contributed to the success of this colorful, multicultural and borderless folk festival, and almost 50 companies and associations as well as the Office for Cultural and Monument Protection of the state capital Dresden supported and promoted the event.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to a special evening of bringing people together!
