Cell shape research in best shape

Ewa Paluch receives ERC Starting Grant

The European Research Council (ERC) has selected 536 early-career top researchers from 41 nationalities across Europe in the latest 'Starting Grant' competition, with a budget of almost € 800 million. The projects were chosen out of 4741 submissions. Among them is Ewa Paluch, research group leader at the MPI-CBG, with her project „The inherent morphological potential of the actin cortex and the mechanics of shape control during cell division“. The main focus of Ewa’s group is to understand how the mechanical properties of a cell are regulated to give a certain shape to a cell.

The Paluch group will receive 1.5 million Euros from the ERC over a period of five years. Congratulations from all of us at the MPI-CBG!
