The mission of the Office of Technology Transfer is to provide information and assistance for finding the best way to rapidly exploit research results and transfer know-how from the academic environment of MPI-CBG to applied research in the business community. In addition, we help ensure access to and sharing of materials (e.g. plasmids, antibodies, vectors, transgenic mouse strains etc) from or with other institutes around the world.

Technology Transfer is performed locally through the Office of Scientific Coordination and Technology Transfer and is supported by in depth expertise at Max-Planck-Innovation, the Max Planck agency for the protection and commercialization of research results. By maintaining close contacts with patent representatives and start-up managers, we file intellectual property protection when and where appropriate and rapidly exploit research results that should be commercialized in order to be further developed.

Our services include:

  • Checking, drafting and negotiating Material Transfer Agreements
  • Checking, drafting and negotiating Collaboration Agreements
  • Providing first due diligence on the patent landscape for a particular invention
  • Filing patents
  • Scouting for licensees for MPI-CBG inventions and negotiating license agreements
