User Information

If you are a new user please send an email to bms(at)mpi-cbg.de to request an introduction. Depending on the scope of your request there are several introduction sessions that may be relevant to you:

  • Introduction to the the work with animals and animal werfare. This is to familiarise users with current animal welfare concepts and the legal framework. If you are planning an animal experiment, you need an official experiment permit. Please contact our veterinarian and animal welfare officer Katrin Reppe for more information.
  • Introduction to the Facility (to activate the access card). This is typically done in person, and it's a walk-through showing the relevant spaces you need to have the access to (laboratories, animals areas, offices).
  • Introduction to PyRAT. If you are planning to house a mouse colony or a fish colony, we will introduce you to the database handling all animal data. Typically initial introduction is a one-hour in-person session with follow up support over phone/email/zoom. PyRAT is developed by Scionics Computer Innovation GmbH. If you already have access to PyRAT you can log in to it here.
