Courses

We offer courses on a regular basis. As soon as there are enough people interested in a course, we will set up a date for it. Here are the courses we offer:


KNIME Workshop

The Technology Development Studio of the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden offers hands on courses for working with quantitative data with KNIME.

1. Fundamental aspects of working with KNIME
2. Data input/output
3. Data wrangling (filter data, join concatenate tables, rename, group, pivot, rule engine etc)
4. PloNng (boxplot, barplot etc)
5. Highlighting
6. Loops and flow variables
7. Clustering (various clustering methods and distance measures)
8. Dimension reduction
9. Regression

The course is aimed at people with no programming skills dealing with quantitative data.
Participants should bring their own computer. All software is open source, instruction for installation will be sent ahead of the course.

CellProfiler Workshop


The Technology Development Studio of the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden offers hands on courses on image analysis using CellProfiler.

4.   Image manipulation (smoothing, enhancing features)

The course is aimed at people with no programming skills dealing with image analysis tasks.

High Content Analysis Workshop

The Technology Development Studio of the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden offers hands on courses to analyse high dimensional data stemming from images.

2.   Data inspection, visual quality control
3.   Verifying normality
4.   Population analysis
5.   Normalization
6.   Parameter selection strategies
7.   Hit selection methods
8.   Clustering

The course is aimed at people with no programming skills dealing with large sets of image data, especially for high content screening.
Participants should bring their own computer. All software is open source, instruction for installation will be sent ahead of the course.

KNIME/HCS tools Workshop

The  HT-­TDS  is  offering  a  workshop  on  analysis  of  high  content screening  data  with  the  HCS  tools  developed  for  the  KNIME platform. The course will teach:

•    Fundamental aspects of working with KNIME
•    Scripting integration
•    Normalization techniques
•    Verification of normality
•    Hit selection methods
•    Population analysis
•    Clustering methods
•    Visualisation of data
