About the Practical Course
Light sheet microscopy is a technology that enables near-isotropic imaging of large biological specimens over time. It opens new avenues to study biological processes with unprecedented imaging speed or full coverage of entire organs and organisms. Light sheet microscopy is already broadly available through commercial imaging platforms, while the technology developers in academia push the boundaries of what is possible in biological imaging. The life science research community is highly interested in exploiting the power of light sheets to answer biological questions. However, researchers require advanced training to meet the technological and computational challenges associated with the light sheet microscopy paradigm. Therefore, we must continue with Practical Courses that teach new users the tools to use this exciting imaging technology effectively. Among the tools are innovative sample mounting approaches, big data image processing, and AI-powered image analysis of the data. Our course provides the participants with a comprehensive overview of light sheet microscopy design, sample preparation, operation, data processing, and image analysis. We achieve that by bringing together microscopists, physicists, computer science experts, experienced light sheet instructors, and leading light sheet companies to image the diverse samples brought in by the course participants.
About EMBO Courses and Workshops
EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).
