Postdoctoral Position in the group of Carl Modes
Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics is currently offering a
in the group of Carl Modes. The project is focused on the modelling and design of the active elements in an envisioned next-generation, fully-integrated microfluidic circuit. It will necessarily include theoretical work on fundamental questions in shape-programmable materials as well as collaborative work integrating experimental data modeling and first principles predictions and design. This project will be conducted in close collaboration with an international team of researchers coordinated by the ICMA in Zaragoza, Spain.
Applicants should be creative, flexible and committed with expertise in soft matter physics, applied mathematics, differential geometry, or topology with major interests in the theory of shape-programmable systems and/or networked fluid dynamics. Experience in working with custom-built physical simulations as well as familiarity with the theory of complex networks, elasticity and visco-elastic theory, and proficiency with Python are desirable.

The full-time position is available immediately for up to 2 years with the possibility of an extension. Salary and social benefits will be in accordance with the regulations of the German TVöD Bund (salary agreement for public service employees).
