Ongoing projects

We use genetics and molecular tools to identify molecules important for compartment boundary formation in vivo and to investigate how these molecules control and implement the sorting out of cells from adjacent compartments.

Our research plans include:

  • analyzing how Hedgehog signal transduction regulates cell adhesion; from signalling to cellular behaviour
  • examining the ultrastructure of cellular adherens junctions at compartment boundaries
  • investigating the dynamics of cell sorting at compartment boundaries by real-time imaging
  • determining whether compartment boundaries are associated with organizers in vertebrates.
