The next step will be to understand the function of all approx. 25,000 genes. This questions terms like "race" or "ethnicity", since they do not reflect the genetic diversity of human beings. These terms may even hinder the development of new therapies for various human diseases from a better understanding of genetic variations. 20:00 Xicotencatl Gracida, Ilya Levental, Felipe Mora-Bermúdez They all wear white labcoats, but they are a most colourful mix from 45 different nations: More than 60% of our institute's staff are non-German.
