SWINE INFLUENZA - The 2009 Flu Pandemic

In early June 2009, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of a new strain of influenza, officially referred to as novel H1N1 and commonly called swine flu, to be a pandemic. What makes this flu different from common seasonal flu infections? Is it more dangerous? How can you avoid infections? Real danger or panicmongering?

To avoid spreading the infection, the  U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended to avoid crowded settings - but you should definitely show up for the Science Café!

Guests this time are:

Prof. Dr. med. habil. Siegwart Bigl
DM Heidrun Böhm
PD Dr. Jacques Rohayem
