Dresden Science Night 2011

During Dresden Science Night, the MPI-CBG will open its doors for the public and show what we do.

Be ready to visit us on 1 July 2011 from 18:00-1:00. Learn more about the MPI-CBG at our many stations, see spectacular science, live cells, and try some hands-on experiments.

Drinks and snacks will be available in the cafeteria.

20:00
Prof. Elisabeth Knust: Of Flies and Men - Genes and Diseases

18:00-21:00
Fische, Zellen, Wassermonster
Kids area with hands-on experiments: Use a microscope to look at live cells. Join and win the pipetting world championship. See a live sample of an axolotl: this salamander can regrow entire limbs!

18:00-1:00
Beautiful Science
An exhibition of images taken in the labs of the MPI-CBG. Sometimes artefacts, but always extremely beautiful!

18:00-1:00
Human vs. Robot
Ever tried to pipette as fast as a robot?

18:00-23:00

So tiny and so efficient: See some really cool bionanotechnology!
A joint presentation of the MPI-CBG and B CUBE (TU Dresden)

18:00-1:00
Die Sendung mit der Maus
Visit the Transgenic Core Facility and see DNA fragments being injected in a blastocyst. How can you knock-out a gene? What are embryonic stem cells?
