News DetailsCongratulations from Dresden to Vienna and Münster! Two of the prestigious „Starting Independent Researcher Grants“ of the European Research Council (ERC) will be awarded to the MFPL Junior Group Leaders Sascha Martens and Florian Raible - the latter did his PhD at the MPI-CBG before he moved on to the Max Delbrück Centre in Berlin and the EMBL in Heidelberg. Florian Raible now is group leader at the Max F. Perutz Laboratories (MFPL) in Vienna, Austria. Both Junior Group Leaders will receive up to 1.5 milion euros over the next five years to consolidate and expand their research work: ERC Starting Grants aim to support up-and-coming young researchers who are about to establish or consolidate a research team in Europe. Competitive applicants must have already shown high potential for independent research. Scientific excellence is the sole criterion for the selection of proposals by a panel of international experts. Moreover, a member of our first IMPRS predoc class, Arndt Siekmann, now group leader in Münster, also received an ERC starting award. The ERC will support Arndt Siekmann and his research group "Laboratory for Cardiovascular Patterning" at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine with 1.4 million euros. Congratulations to Vienna and Münster from Dresden! |
