Appointments at the Immigration Office Dresden

Please note that you need an appointment before going to the Immigration Office. You can contact the Immigration Offi

The Immigration office guarantees reply within 48 hours. They will suggest an appointment and inform you about the required documents.

Due to the current appointment system there is a significant delay (up to 5 weeks) for appointment requests (esp. for formal obligations for invitations). Therefore please contact the Foreign Office way in advance if you want to invite someone from countries with a visa requirement.

Invitation to Germany and Formal Obligation (Verpflichtungserklärung)

When inviting foreigners to Germany who cannot travel by their own means, then a host living in Germany could alternatively obligate himself to cover all costs associated with the guest's stay in Germany, including costs for potential medical treatments. That is the so called Formal Obligation (German: Verpflichtungserklärung) at the immigration office. (to § 68 of the German Immigration Law or "Aufenthaltsgesetz"). This form of the standardized letter of sponsorshop can be obtained at the International Office.

You have to apply for this standardized letter of sponsorship at the immigration office and need to get an appointment there.

Further required documents for the host:

evidence that you have sufficient funds to invite somebody (copy of contract) and last three pay slips confirming your salary
passport
copy of rental lease
