International OfficeFormalities upon arrivalRegistration Within two weeks after arriving in Dresden, everyone has to get registered with the Residents’ Registration Office. You can get the form in the International Office and leave your passport there for registration. Any change of residence within the same city has to be registered with the Residents’ Registration Office. If you move out of Germany you will have to cancel your registration in Dresden. Residence PermitNewcomers immediately have to get an appointment at the Immigration office immediately after arriving to apply for a residence permit. Extension of Residence PermitFrom 1 September 2011, the new Electronic Residence Permit (eAT) replaces the stamp put in the passport. For the extension of the residence permit you will get a notification by the Immigration office about 6 or 8 weeks before your current residence permit expires. Once you receive a personal appointment, it is necessary to come to the this appointment. If you really cannot make the date, please reply to the corresponding e-mail (on the letter) immediately to get a new one (or let the International Office know). Please don’t ignore the letter!
